The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip at the beginning of the third quarter of 2023 cast a shadow on the performance of the Palestine Exchange (‘Exchange’), as during the year 2023, approximately 331 million US dollars were traded, a decrease of 30% from the trading values for the year 2022, and the number of shares traded this year decreased by 34%, reaching approximately 159.8 million shares, through approximately 27 thousand transactions. A decrease of 22% from the number of transactions executed during the year 2022, and the daily average of trading reached about US dollars 1.3 million, distributed over 244 trading sessions, while the market value of the stock exchange at the end of 2023 reached about US dollars 4.63 billion, a decrease of 5% from 2022.
As for the movement of the Jerusalem index, the index closed at the end of 2023 at 588.65 points compared to 639.71 points at the close of 2022, thus constituting a decrease of 8%.
